Let the truth be told- we’ve all fantasised, in our childhood, of a video game where we could fly spaceships and pit them against one another. One could say that such games idealised the whole arcade genre. Man, those games, for sure, used to make our days!

 

And now, when the games of these sorts are almost dying, here arrives a new kid in the block- “Radial-G”. Developed by Tammeka Games, this game is a fully-fledged, VR supported, arcade racer. Focused on fast-paced action, this game tries to pace your heart rate and leaves you wanting more.

 

Talking about the Virtual Reality, Radial-G tries to instate a new kind of experience for both, accustomed as well as first-time users. As a matter of fact, this specific game was created envisioning the Virtual Reality involvement. It, to be exact, takes you to a whole new level. A level never before defined or tested.

 

Moving our focus to the game, as a whole, it is your typical sci-fi racer with a few garnishes of its own. It tries to throw light on its genre, and does so in an excellent way. As a category, arcade type spaceship racers might be very less known to the audience, as games, falling in this category, are few in numbers and many of them have failed to deliver what they had previously promised. Radial-G looks like an exception to this norm. So far it looks propitious, and there are signs that it can really deliver everything it is up for.

 

Our team had a chance to have a slight taste of what’s coming. We were given an opportunity to play the Alpha version, and it indeed was quite fun. Playable missions and ships were quite selective and yet the game felt limitless. What we can do now is wait for the final copy so that we can savour all its flavours.

 

All in all, Tammeka Games did quite a work to have this wonderful creation. It looks quite promising and could help in reviving this old and endangered genre. It is obviously innovative considering its VR playability, but that doesn’t make it incapable of being enjoyed on a normal 2D screen. Moreover, stating the apparent, it would be played mostly on PC or a console. And it goes without saying, that whatever may the platform be, we hope that the game can provide a good overall gameplay experience.
