This week in the LCS we saw a win from Cloud 9 and Team Liquid’s revenge over TSM among other things. These events created a surge in the league for some teams and gave us a team to take the number one spot in the league, Team Gravity.

 

With TSM suffering their first 0-2 week this split they have dropped down to a three-way tie for third place. This was unforeseeable to many but does not put the team out of the running for top two. As many know, TSM has been very vocal about LCS now being a practice grounds to test new strategies to get them ready for worlds. Because of this, the team has started losing a lot of games to test these new strategies. This weekend they saw losses to one of the teams at the bottom of the standings, Team 8. With Team 8 earning their victory over TSM they have received a breath of life and still have a chance to reach playoffs by the end of the split. CaliTrlolz8 and his squad hope they can make it happen this split as CaliTrlolz has said this would be his last split because he wants to return to school. After their win over TSM, anything seems possible for the young team.

 

The game of the week this week featured the rematch between two of the top teams in North America, TSM and Team Liquid. In the previous match between the two teams, they were both fighting to be number one. This time however, Team Liquid was fighting for a spot for second place and TSM still fighting for first place along side Team Gravity. Last time TSM achieved victory with a clutch fight to end the game as Bjergsen shifted into Team Liquid’s backline obliterating their damage with one fell swoop. Team Liquid also lost the fight due to a misplaced Rumble Equalizer by top laner, Quas. This game saw different results though, with FeniX getting the opportunity to play his undefeated Azir, FeniX got to show Bjergsen how it was done. The team rallied together to put TSM in a position to only react to their play. At the end of the game Team Liquid handed TSM their first 0-2 week of the split achieving second place and putting TSM at third place in the league.

 

Another team that was very fortunate this weekend was Cloud9. They saw their first victory after bringing Hai into the jungle by defeating a slumping Team Dignitas. Team Dignitas is now 1-4 in their past five games. Though this hardly marks the return of Cloud9, it means the team can maybe avoid relegation. This would mean completing a nearly perfect season for the rest of the split but anything is achievable.

 

Team Gravity continued their run for the top team in North America by completing yet another 2-0 week. Playing against teams at the bottom of the standings, most would say this should be an easy task but one of those games was against Cloud9, the team who took down Team Dignitas this week. Team Gravity has massively improved since last split and even the beginning of this split. Many of their players have received multiple player of the week awards for their prowess shown in game and the team has now secured a lone spot at the top of the standings. Team Gravity seems to be the team we will end up with at the top by the end of the split but we still have two weeks of games to be played.

 

This week saw some intense games and teams earn redemption as they took down their opponents on Summoner’s Rift. The next four games will give us the finalized standings as we head into playoffs. The playoffs will determine who North America will send to the World Championship in September to compete against the greatest teams in the world. Who knows what is to come next!
