Horror games put you in the middle of Demon's spawn hell, you can have monster scream and spit on the screen or a small doll talking about the end of the world, most of these games are manic and mind-bendingly odd, but these games are obviously suppose to be 'horror' and loses the spark what-not.

But some games have no reason to contain anything hinting 'scary', these could be easter eggs, too-good-to-be-real glitches and just idiotic developers who like to scare the willies of unsuspecting players.
So here we are my top 10 most scary 'non-scary' moments in games.

Most Scary 'Non-Scary' Moments in Gaming

10 - Pokèmon - Lavender Town Syndrome.

Yes, it's a creepypasta, I know ok? But you can't deny the song is freaking odd.
Sorry, I'm getting sidetracked. The Lavender Town Syndrome is a (possibly fake) story containing a group of suicides that were connected to young children listening to the theme when entering Lavender Town on Pokèmon Red and Green. These were apparently caused by odd frequencies that could only be picked up by children. When heard by the kids with headphones that large volumes, most kids would fall ill, and some would commit suicide.
Yes I know, possibly not true, but you can review the evidence yourself if you're interested...

9 - Berserk - Evil Otto

I played this game a while back and thought it was entertaining for what it was worth - but there was Doom and - well, its Doom.
But when I researched on the old games of my past I found out I could of played with my life trying to get that highscore.
In January 1981, a seemingly healthy 19 year old died of a heart attack shortly after posting a highscore.
Obviously, unconnected events right? Well just to bang the nail on the head, on October in the same year, another healthy teenager of 18 years old died after a highscore in the top 10's - cause of death? Heart attack.

8 - Sonic R - Tails Doll

I've never been a fan of racing games so Sonic R was a game I turned a blind eye on, but of course the internet is there to find the odd and the creepy of simple stuff. Like a game character actually being a sadistic killer controlled by Dr. Robotnik. What?
Well Tails Doll is the victim of good old creepypasta victimised by the fact that he's too...simple, and is hard to unlock, even know he's the slowest character and hardly makes racing easier.
Either the game developer mixed some post-it notes around or he hoped that this character would become famous for all the wrong reasons. Anyway, this isn't the last time SEGA will be having words with me.

7 - Majora's Mask - The Happy Masks Salesman.

Some characters put me on edge, the Spider from Limbo tenses all my muscles, Agatha from Fahrenheit creeps my skin and Catherine from Catherine is just Overly Attached Girlfriend in a game. But some character tweaks your scared brain without reason. The Happy Masks Salesman does this perfectly, maybe its the smile, maybe its the rare but angry face that appeared like a shock, or maybe its the FREAKING MASKS HE HAS! I mean I know the game is meant to revolve around masks, but you seriously have issue if one mask is just a screaming face. *shudders*

6 - Luigi's Mansion - Luigi Hanged

Ok Nintendo, you have got some explaining to do, even know games about ghosts and haunted mansions should be considered scary, it has Luigi armed with a freaking vacuum, it is a shock when you accidentally stumble into this glitch as it shows what looks like Luigi being hanged.
This glitch is showed when you're taking the phone call on the third level when the lights go out, and when the lightning strikes you'll see the glitch. Weird if you're expecting a simple phone call.

5 - Minecraft - Herobrine

If creepypastas have told me anything, it's that one screenshot -edited or not - can turn everyones bacon into rotten flesh (if you pardon the Minecraft pun)
This screenshot is shown with a story, which I'll shorten to my best story-shorten skills.
A player in single-player kept seeing a NPC in a Steve skin with blank eyes. And every time he tried to start a forum about it, a guy called Herobrine kept blocking him saying "STOP"
Why is this possibly fake story so scary? Because Notch is a sneaky devil who purposely puts "Removed Herobrine" on each update. It makes it more confusing that Herobrine is meant to be Notch's dead brother. Well, well.

4 - Minecraft - Disc 11

Staying in the land of Minecraftia,
The Music Disc "11" has been creeping out fellow Steves for a while now. This music seems to be a recording of a fellow miner being chased, its quiet and boring at the start but it gets oddly intense and start being extremely questionable about why, what and who. Check it out why don't you?

3 - Sonic CD - Hidden Message

SEGA! Stop these unlocks and easter eggs that make small children cry.
Sonic CD is known for being the little gem of games that were actually good, most kids would waste away for hours and play with the blue hedgehog. So it’s only a matter of time before this easter egg was swapped around the playground and gave thousands of kids sleepless nights, including mine.
Anyway, this is activated by putting in a specific code in the sound test, when activated, you get a screen with a strange disturbing sonic with odd music.
The worst part is japanese text is shown; most people are a bit yiffy on what the text says, but this is the most likely...
Fun is Infinity
SEGA Enterprises
- Majin
"So what's Majin?" Well Majin in Japanese means Devil or Demon God. Hmm.

2 - Majora's Mask - The Moon

The Moon is suppose to be the beauty that lights up the dark sky and I can say "Of course!" But children playing this game may be thought differently looking out their window and thinking the Moon has a freaky face.
Anyone who has played the game knows the Moon doesn't just serve as a scary sprite, it's a time limit on how long you have left as the closer the Moon gets, the shorter you have left to complete the game. It may be fine if you complete the game in time but on the final hours of the Moon crashing eerie and tense music played just to unnerve your already broken psyche.

1 - Luna Game Series - Screamers

Ok, this game IS a horror, it is SUPPOSE to have screamers, but whoever created this game used My Little Pony characters to falsely put an averagely looking game just to put scary music and screamers in.
The game starts by looking like a simple (and lets be frank, crappy) 2D platformer, and at one point a scary picture of a MLP character pops up and you can't quit until the game crashes and quits.
Might seem like a game with short thrills right? Well the game writes a bunch of the same picture to your hard drive after playing, with a bunch of .txt files that say "The End is Neigh"
Since then, this game has sequels and even prequels that contains more screamers and shocking images, but the first game works the best by bring incredibly simple.
