It has been said that space is the final frontier and that it is a big and empty area. This endless amount of space as well as emptiness makes the space around Earth a perfect area for surviving and continuing life. Developed by 4Gency, Habitat is a game like no other before it. Announced at E3 2014, the game was backed by a Kicktsarter and currently has a backing of 64,154 USD pledged to the creation of the game. It is available for preorder on their website and when it comes out it will be available on PC, Mac, Linux and Xbox One, according to its trailer. There are three preorder packages available. The first contains the game, concept art and wallpapers for your computer and is 20 USD. The second contains the game, concept art, wallpapers and the original soundtrack for the game and is 25 USD. The last package contains everything in the second package as well as the first Habitat DLC pack and an eBook of the making of the game, which will be priced at 50 USD.
The game itself is more developed than you’d assume a Kickstarter game would be. Now, the game is not finished yet, but the content it does offer already is amazing. You start out with a simple ship and two engineers. Humans are being forced to leave Earth and they need a new area to settle in. That’s your job, to create living spaces for the people just outside Earth’s atmosphere. You have to create these habitats by combining together space junk that’s been floating around for years and years. However, it isn’t all fun and games up in space. There are enemy ships flying around the desolate space junk yard, just waiting to destroy whatever life they find. So along with creating habitats suitable for humans to live in, you also need to protect yourself and your creations from these enemies. However, this shouldn’t be a problem because you never know what you’ll find while floating aimlessly in a space junk yard. One of my favorite unique features in the game is its zero gravity. Not many games have a zero gravity option but if this game wasn’t zero gravity, you wouldn’t have a game.
This game, however, is not an easy game to just pick up and beat in a couple of hours. It has an endless amount of area and items for you to utilize, but sometimes it takes hours to figure out the best use for all of the items. The game gives you more than enough game play, especially for a game that’s not even fully completed. You can only imagine what more they have in store, but that’s for them to decide what makes it past the drawing board. However, on their website, which is www. http://jointhe509th.com/, you can figure out all you need to know for yourself, as well as the ability to send them an email, either to tell them what you enjoy or what you’d like to see. I know that this game won’t be one of those games you buy and put on your shelf, I know I’ll be playing it for months to come.
