It’s a common misconception to see good racing games on mobile devices as all being quite bad, often they’re riddled with “Pay to win” mechanics and are generally not that fun to play as a result.  But now 3 former members from some of Britain’s acclaimed game studios, including SCE Studio Liverpool, Bizarre Creations and Digital Image Design who brought us such memorable titles such as Motor Storm, Wipeout and Blur are now back with their new indie studio known as “The Pixel Bullies” who are led by Andy Gahan, whom was previously Senior Development Manager at Evolution Studios are now bringing us Formula Force Racing who may just drift past that misconception.

The game will feature large courses which allow the player to enjoy superfast racing which will quote “Defy gravity” with the ability to wall riding similar to the Wipeout series which in itself sounds amazing and will open up the possibilities for over taking or denying the overtake from your rivals the developers promise that “There’s little in your way that’s going to slow you down” with the ability to have cars flip 360 degrees for that ultimate action movie feel. The game will have 12 unique tracks which are varied depending on the where in the world they’re set in the world from futuristic Tron like settings, Urban city sprawls or even Alpine descents, the environments themselves featured in game took around 2 months for artists to create and finish which gives you a scope of how much time went into the development cycle for the title, each will be featuring 4 championships. There is a variety of 4 vehicle classes on offer; Super mini, Muscle Car, Supercar and Formula Force Class. The latter is supposed to offer the player speeds of over 200MPH which in itself sounds amazing.  Some of the design team behind the cars are the guys behind the MotorStorm team which handled some very attractive looking cars and Bikes in the MotorStorm games which holds a special place in my heart as one of my favourite racing games on the PlayStation., needless to say I’m anxious to see how well this game turns out, this is coming from someone who doesn’t normally have any feelings of affinity towards the racing genre.

On a related note we’ll be posting a full review where we’ll go more in depth on the gameplay and our final thoughts, we’ll also be running a competition thanks to the Devs at Pixel Bullies where you can win some T-shirts. The game is currently available on the Windows phone store for £1.49 or your regional equivalent, versions for Apple and Android devices is currently TBA and will be released at a later date however if you’re interested to see what  the game is like, stay tuned for our full review to be posted soon.
