Ok so here we have the new Dragon Age: Inquisition launch trailer, now I really like this trailer for a number of reasons and the first one is very simple, unlike a lot of launch trailers this one doesn’t have a monologue throughout any part of the trailer, not that I don’t like a monologue through the trailer but that is a good thing with doing something different, also unlike a lot of trailers it doesn’t really go for a really, I guess you could call it “noticeable” soundtrack to it; by that I mean like, if you look at a lot of game launch trailers they usually bring out a dramatic song that really gets your blood pumping, you know something that the fans can go full nerd on, and they usually reserve the softer, mellow, calming music for the teaser trailers when you’re still trying to get a grasp on what’s happening, which if you have a dramatic monologue to go along with it then that works quite nicely but when you only have the soundtrack playing it gets a little difficult.

That’s not the case here; they choose instead to play the song “wonderful world” which, I must say, fits exceptionally well, it always pleases me to see that every once in a while the developers pick a song that fits an intense action, fight scene but is something that you’d never think to be played during that, it’s kind of like having ice cream and hot chocolate fudge, there completely opposite but they fit so well together that you want to have it more often, for example I found myself watching this trailer about two or three times before I started paying attention to be able to write this; that is what you want people to do, you want them to keep going back and watching it and getting them lined up to get it, and this does that really well.

Which brings me to my second point of interest which is the look of this game, just from looking at the trailer I can tell that a lot of people are going to be awe inspired by this, the graphics are off the chart and the layout of the world is fantastic, even the rain and lightning looks amazing, and that’s bloody hard to do; and there still continuing with their traditional Dragon Age style of armour and weapons which I always enjoy looking at.

And speaking of looking, just by having a glance at the landscapes and hearing what’s been said about this game you can be sure it’s going to be bloody massive, which is also of a double meaning I suppose to the song they used, because this really is a wonderful world.

All in all this is setting the new Dragon Age up to be an amazing achievement and I look forward to being able to get my hands on it as soon as I can.
