Recently I interviewed Dan who has been working of Terra Incognita, a kickstarter that I am very excited for. He’s a great bloke and remember to check out his game and website….

1, Hey Dan, I've been following your game for a while now, could you tell us a little about Terra Incognita?

Terra Incognita is a retro inspired RPG, influenced by games like chrono trigger, suikoden, secret of mana, breath of fire etc etc

The game has a really deep storyline with lots of interesting side quest branching storylines.

The game uses a traditional turn based battle system utalized by the 'Terra engine'
A custom built game engine for the console versions of the game. Rt he battle system is similar to lots of other 2D/side angle battle system but with lots of fresh in battle dialogue and strategic item/skill use. The battles will feel simple, nostalgic, bare bones but at the same time fresh and addictive.

The storyline is being kept under wraps but I can promise, its so deep and inspiring, but funny at times, sad at others. It hits on a few real world issues. The game atmosphere is spot on thanks to the blend of retro stylized pixel art and music produced by Arron Krough.

2, And how is the development coming along? Is there a release date?

We are still aiming for a December 2013 release date for windows. Wii U, Ouya and GCW-Zero testing will commence soon after.

3, I believe you started out as a one man team, how many people are working on the game at the moment?

Yeah, it started as just me using an old commercial game engine, I was working with and learning C# in my spare time. So when my initial KickStarter had some success, I decided to work on a custom engine. I had already been playing with the idea of creating a custom 2D/RPG game engine for a while. After I was contacted by Nintendo about a Wii U console version of the game. I was able to hire an additional programmer. Chris Fails is our lead programmer, he has joined the team officially now. Dennis Saputra is actually a free lance artist, but is working closely with us on this game. So really we are a two man team. Our sound developer Arron, is also free lance, so just with us for Terra.

4, By aiming the game for a nostalgic feel I assume you will hope to entice more mature gamers, will you expect the game to draw the attention of younger gamers who haven't experienced some of the titles Terra Incognita is based around?

The whole style of the game is aimed at retro video game fans, but the pixel graphic style is big at the moment on the Indie scene and the younger generation are trying new styles of games that they haven't experienced before. I hope to entice the older RPG fans and the younger gamers. The only aspect of Terra that isn't so retro is the music, even some sound effects are retro with modern, orchestrated music!

5, That sounds great mixing in some different styles, finally, what pricing can we expect for Terra Incognita and where can our readers find more information and follow the games production?

People can go over to www.terraincognitarpg.net to pre-order a digital copy for £3
