Colonies Online is a new MMO game and I know that this is in early access on Steam but to me, the game must be in a fully playable state to put out and ask for real world money. So, here is a quick preview of Colonies Online and I surely hope that when they say early, they mean not officially coming out till the end of 2016 at the earliest as WOW this is maybe the worst game I’ve attempted to play in a very long time.

So, to start you don't have a character select or even the ability to create your own character you just log in with your details and bang right into the game world. There are no options to change the look of your character. I honestly thought I'd missed an option, so I went back to double check but nope. Guess it's on the ‘To do’ list?

Colonies Online plays kind of like a top down shooter where you control the movement of the character with the WSAD keys, aim with the mouse, and rotate the camera by holding down the mouse button. This is where the game feels nice and can see where the developer is going with the design here.

But as I said I hope there is another 18 months of development left with this project. When you are moving in the world, your character just jumps and bounces all over the screen. One time, it would not let me through a door as I kept warping to either side of the door. I just couldn’t line up to move two feet forward.

More bad news is that the opening training level is bland and has little to no sounds, so no music or voice acting. The only sound the game has are some very poor sound effects. Again, we do understand this is early but feel we need to make a point that some games you can't simply put out for early access to get a little income rolling in to finish the game off. Normally, I don't have a problem but when the game is as unfinished as this, questions need to be asked.

So as things stand I would say that this is totally unplayable and to be honest this barely qualifies as a game.
